Why We love Corporate Social Responsibility
At PRMR Inc., we love Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). And, there are many reasons why you should too.
‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ can easily be seen as the next ‘buzz word’ or PR ‘fad’, but in reality CSR not only benefits all aspects of your business, but also helps the community, the environment, and/or society too. We’d go so far as to say that if every company incorporated a little CSR into their business approach, the corporate world would most certainly look a lot different … and, for the better!
It’s obvious that to be linked with a social cause is going to be reputation enhancing. Don’t just take our word for it. A Reputation Institute study found that 42% of how people feel about a company is based on their perceptions of a firm’s CSR, which goes to show how important it is.
It can also be said that incorporating CSR into your business guarantees you positive publicity. However, although sharing your CSR story is likely to improve customer attitudes towards your company, there has to be more to your strategy than simply the motivation of likability – there must still be some substance and a link to your overall business objectives. Let’s face it, there’s a lot to be said for the ‘feel good factor’. We all know that feeling you get when you give to something other than yourself and you see the results … be honest, it feels good. And, if you feel good about making a difference, surely your customers will too. However, this giving must be sustainable.
For the most part, CSR is all about engagement – crucial to any business’ success. This includes not just external engagement with relevant stakeholders, but internal employee engagement as well. CSR initiatives encourage something deeper than your daily business practices and obligations - it touches people on a more personal level and when executed appropriately, can be highly successful for your business.
